Protests In Jakarta After Christian Governor Convicted Of Blasphemy

A court in Indonesia has sentenced the governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama – better known as Ahok, to two years in prison for blasphemy against Islam. The court rejected the prosecutor’s recommendation to sentence Ahok to two year’s probation instead of a prison sentence. Protests have occurred in Indonesia in the wake of Ahok’s sentencing.
