I hope that theists and atheists alike around here can, at the very least, unanimously agree that male and female is determined by biology, not feelings.

This "anything goes" attitude towards sex and gender has utterly left the realm of reality.

I agree, but the view on 'everydayfeminism.com' is that gender is non-essentialist.

The question is where to draw the line on non-essentialism? If gender is non-essentialist, then what about age, race and species? Gender non-essentialism allows for transracialism and transspeciesm. Here is one example of what non-essentialism leads to, namely ''otherkin'':

if president Barack Obama announced tomorrow that he is a 'she', then would there be a woman president in the White House?

Well. . . the rule is, once Obama becomes a woman, everything Obama ever did becomes retroactively "female."

So if Obama becomes a woman, even after his presidency has ended, then Obama would still be the first female president.

Makes sense?

So Obama could still be the first black woman president.  He just needs to get a sex change before he dies.

I hope this clarifies things.

I suppose if transracialism is acceptable he might not be the first black president if he declares that actually he is white.

He might also be the first feline president if transspecism is acceptable.

Well.  That's another rule.  If you change your species later on, then everything you did is retroactively attributed to your new species-- it's the same rules as having a gender change.

So, for example, suppose Obama becomes a female cat before he dies.  If he does this before he dies, then Obama could still be the first black, female, feline, president.

I hope that clarifies things.

Would he disqualify himself from the job if he declared himself non-human?  Or non-American?

I wonder when we'll see transsentialism and the first potato president?  Or the first abstract concept president?

Well.  It's retroactive. So suppose if Obama changes his species to a female cat ten years from now.

Then that would mean he is the first black female president.  It would also mean he is the first feline president.  It would also mean that he is the first female, black, feline president.

Hope that clarifies how the rules work.

Secondly, this is a serious issue of identity for many people around the world and so, regardless of how little basis in fact you believe the issue to be, speak in love and not with cheap shots at people experiencing gender dysphoria.

Wait, what? Christians having empathy for people who are different from them? I think you have your theology mixed up. You're supposed to make fun of transgendered people while blaming liberal secularist PC culture for their very existence.

I, and the vast majority of xtians I've ever known, have huge empathy for people different to themselves.  In my experience it is non-xtians who lack in the tolerance, empathy and charity fields.  So keep your insults.

It's one thing to say it...

To be fair, most Christians I've met IRL have been empathic people (but they've also been liberal for the most part). The above was just aimed at certain RF theists... and I really can't see that it was unfair in any way.

It's totally unfair.  You may be confusing empathy with people and use of PC language when discussing an ideology.  Political POVs are not people, nor are ideas.

Sex change would not be necessary according to 'everydayfeminism.com' and others. In fact, many trans people haven't had sex changes, see Caitlyn Jenner.

While she has undergone some cosmetic surgery, she has neither undergone sex reassignment surgery nor ruled it out; she stated that, for her, life as a woman is primarily a matter of mental state and lifestyle.[96]

He might also be the first feline president if transspecism is acceptable.

All those would be possible given non-essentialism.

Christians can love and have empathy for people without condoning their behaviour.
