If You Could Go Back In Time?

If You Could Go Back In Time?

1. When would you go?
2. What would you do?

I know it's a lot.

Here are a few thoughts:

1. I'd go back to the dawn of humanity and show how to make a lens, and teach them about bacteria and viruses.
2. I'd go back 1 million years and carve all the math and science I could remember into rock. (And, tee hee, I'd add a note that all religion is evil... hehehe).

I have many others, but I like those two as a starting point for discussion.

What say you?!

It might be interesting to go back and see what exactly was happening in the first century AD, but I would also be terrified that the locals would end up killing me for being strange.  Also the fact that I don't speak the languages of the time would make it really hard.

It would also be interesting to go back to last week with the winning lottery numbers and buy myself a ticket =)

EDIT:  Also, if time travel is ever invented in the future I will go back in time to this exact moment and add additional details to this post about other places I might go.  Since that hasn't happened yet though, it is safe to say that I will never time travel lol

No doubt we'd all be killed for being witches, or weirdos!

But.... you did edit it... YOU'RE FROM THE FUTURE!!!!!!!

A similar question was put on a pod cast a couple weeks ago, but more like.. "where could you be a fly on the wall"   The 2 philosophers had some great answers..

Proverbs 8:30 "then I was beside him, like a master workman, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always, rejoicing in his inhabited world and delighting in the children of man."

I'd go back to January of 1982 and start telling everybody about the future. I'd start with things in the near future just to get people's attention. I'd talk about how The Wrath of Khan was going to be considered the best Star Trek movie for decades to come, and how influential E.T. was going to be. I'd talk about how the soundtrack to Conan the Barbarian would be widely considered to be the best soundtrack for decades to come.

I'd talk about the future of the Hubble space telescope, how the Supercollider in Texas was never going to work out, how CERN produced the Higgs Boson, how they discovered the expansion of the universe is accelerating, and I'd tell them about the internet and all kinds of other things. I'd tell them who the next few Presidents were going to be, about the the Challenger explosion, and about the collapse of the Soviet Union and the fall of the Berlin Wall.

I don't know I get a kick out of imagining that scenario, but I do.

I'd go back in time to get the Infinity Stones before Thanos could gather them all, and then I'd snap to make unnecessary suffering disappear from the universe forever.

Well, to give a more serious answer, I like the ideas in the OP.  I'd have to ask if going back in time is a one way trip, could I make multiple trips, etc.  Another question to ask is should I go back in time?  What are the possible negative consequences, even if my motives are good?

I've often fantasized about going back in time to live my own life over, such as sending my mind back into my six year old self, and having a "do-over" from around 1974 onward... But that would be with a focus on correcting my own flaws and poor life choices.

The morning sun rose and burned off the ghosts; it seems they were nothing but shapes in the fog.

Yeah, right!? I would definitely do things differently - I might become a Hindu so I can... Is that how it works?

But, yes, I'm not sure what the rules are. It would be funny if someone presumed that going back in time was a net negative and refuse to do it - even in a hypothetical! haha

Or, do we only have 30 seconds every 10 years? etc. Oh, the options!
