This is a space designed for structured debates within the Reasonable Faith online community.

Please note that new threads should only be created in this forum when two parties have agreed to a debate topic and format, and have a debate administrator who has agreed to oversee the whole process.

If you wish to issue a debate challenge, it can be done here in this thread, by PM, or in another forum.

I will update this post with a list of available challenges, debate administrators, etc.

If you can find a willing debate partner and topic, I'm sure we could set up a time and date.

That would be awesome. I've been wanting to do something like that for a long time.

Your best bet would be to issue a challenge in the Choose Your Own Topic forum, where most of our community likes to spend their time.

My three pet peeves about on-line forum formal debates.
1. Editing/altering debate posts AFTER you have submitted them.
2. Lack of defined/agreed formal debate rules.
3. Failure by either contestant to actually complete the debate (default/forfeit)

Any additions to the list?

Debate Proposal:

Subject: Evidential Problem of Evil

I am looking for anyone interested in debating the evidential problem of evil. I am hoping to take the position of the atheist and have another willing participant take the position of the theist.

I do not have the exact rules or parameters of the debate in mind. I figure I can work that out with whoever accepts this debate proposal. The only rule I have is that the theist who takes on this debate only use the skeptical theist position in the debate.

Thank you
