It's more annoying to me that people get credit for making the post, but the teacher doesn't seem to care about engagement with the replies. Just making a post and walking away doesn't really teach anything.
Possibly they’re being graded on thoughtfulness, reasoning and the like. It’s interesting this forum was selected. I’ve looked around for similar ones but haven’t seen anything like it. Free thinking is allowed and encouraged here as long as it is respectful. I was on a Catholic forum and was booted after three posts. I crossed some indefinite line they had.
